About TNCR

About
The Tennessee College Republican Committee (TNCR) is the umbrella group for all the College Republican chapters in Tennessee. With chapters in all grand divisions of the state, and all sizes of schools, the TNCR exists to provide representation and resources to enhance the College Republican experience in Tennessee. TNCR is governed by a Board of Directors (made up of one representative from each chapter) and led by an Executive Committee of statewide elected and appointed officers.

History of TNCR
In April of 2008, then-Vice Chair Jared Anderson of Vanderbilt University was elected Chairman of the organization. At the convention, delegates ratified a new constitution proposed by Chairman Anderson. Under Anderson, the TNCR worked keep Tennessee a “red state” in the 2008 election season by helping the Tennessee Republican Party win a majority in both chambers of congress and cast a national vote for Republican Presidential nominee, John McCain.

In April of 2009, then-Vice Chair Cameron Pruette of Lee University was elected Chairman of the organization. Cameron served as Chairman of the TNCR until October 2009, when he stepped down.

During the next state board meeting, the state board would elect Tres Wittum of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, then-President of the UTC Chapter and Public Relations Director on the TNCR Executive Committee. Chairman Wittum was then elected to a full term in April of 2010.


At the 2011 convention, then-President of the Vanderbilt College Republicans Stephen Siao was elected to serve as Chairman. During the convention, a series of constitutional amendments to bring accountability back to the organization and strengthen the state board proposed by Chairman Siao and his team was adopted.
